Howell Cummings Start Work On Boho 5


Middleborough Mayor Ray Mallon cut the first sod as Esh Group start work on Boho Five. The project is the next phase of Middleborough's Digital City Business (DCB) development, has started on site – this is a major milestone for a key strand in the town's economic regeneration plans. It's also part of the wider Middlehaven area, which is one of the north-east's largest and most exciting regeneration schemes.

Esh Build, part of the Esh Group, has been appointed to construct the £3.2 million new building.

Boho5Howell Cummings Group were chosen to carry out skilled work packages on the project, commencing with approximately 1800m² of external structural steel frame system. Other work packages to follow by Howell Cummings Group will include the internal fit out of partitions and ceiling along with the manufactured joinery. Kensington and Park Terrace

Howell Cummings Group successfully completed a complex Joinery package at Kensington and Park Terrace for Graham Construction at Newcastle University. The highly skilled and complex works involved both refurbishment and renovation of manufactured joinery and finishes to existing university buildings along with carrying out new joinery works to three newly constructed student accommodation blocks.

Ivor Brown, Project Manager for Graham Construction commented on Howell Cummings at Kensington Terrace - "I found Howell Cummings to be a helpful and pro active company throughout the project, they could resource, action and successfully resolve any additional works we asked them to undertake for us. I would certainly use Howell Cummings again"

The project was managed on site by Howell Cummings, Steven Hewitson who worked closely with Graham's on site management throughout the project to coordinate and successfully deliver a quality project completed for the new intake of students for September 2014.

Works under taken by Howell Cummings Group included:

  • Fitting approx 1200 no high performance door sets with ironmongery.
  • Approx 21,000mt of new and reinstatement work to specialist skirting and architraves.
  • Installing feature Bay and Oriel Windows.
  • Bespoke window seating.
  • Completion of bathroom pods.
  • Renovation and replacement of External feature entrance door and frames
  • Timber ceiling works.
